Hi Everyone!
I’m Alastair, and I’m a third year chemist.
I’m running for Academic Affairs because I want to really make a difference to your student experience at York. I have loads of experience for this role, having been a course rep for 2 years and am currently one of only 3 faculty reps in the university, as well as sitting on Union Council and the university-wide Student Services Consultative Sub-Committee.
Here are my 3 main policies, all with an "A" theme:
Assessment and Feedback - I want to speed up assessment and feedback at York as well as improving the level of detail and personalisation to your piece of work within this.
A 24-hour library - When the library refurb is completed in March 2012, I want to ensure that the library becomes 24-hours during term times to ensure that this world class resource is giving all students value for money.
Advancement of Course Rep and Faculty Rep Training - Although leaps and bounds have been made this year to how Course Reps are trained, I still think that this can be improved further and will give the Course Reps the mandate to take to their departments and solve any issues at a departmental level.
